Kris Rey

A Cuban-American film and television director, Rey received critical acclaim for her 2015 feature film Unexpected, which played in competition at the Sundance Film Festival. 

 

Her fourth and most recent feature, I Used To Go Here, starring Gilian Jacobs and Jemaine Clement, premiered at the 2020 SXSW Film Festival and is currently streaming on HBOMax. With director credits on networks like Showtime, Disney and Hulu, Kris makes projects that are accessible to large swathes of audiences, while never compromising her artistic intentions. She has made a long career of delivering empowering stories and continues to do so across various media.

 

Kris currently resides in Chicago and teaches film production at Northwestern University.
